Saleh’s return to the Yemeni front line

As Yemen’s conflict enters another phase, a familiar family is rising again in prominence. Ahmed Ali Saleh and Tareq Saleh, son and nephew respectively of the late President Ali Abdullah Saleh, are heavily involved in events in North Yemen. Prior to the Houthi coup in 2014, Ahmed and Tareq controlled the Yemeni Republican Guard and Presidential Guards respectively; both have a clear support base in the north of the country.
