Saudi ambassador to the UK Prince Khalid Bin Bandar has claimed Riyadh is trying to avoid war with Iran, but is growing tired of being “pushed” by Tehran. He told the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) think tank in London that “Saudi Arabia does not want to get in conflict with Iran,”. In a wide-ranging talk on 14 October he said: “We have much more to lose than the Iranians. We have much further to fall. The region needs some more grown-ups in the room and we have realised that. We’re trying to behave more conscientiously.”
