Riyadh added to Europe’s terrorist financing blacklist

Saudi Arabia was among 23 countries included by the European Commission on a blacklist for having weak anti-money laundering and terrorist financing regimes, in a move which adds to past criticism and which will may create fresh problems for the economic reform agenda being pushed by the Saudi government. Riyadh swiftly issued a statement saying it “notes with regret” the Commission proposal – which now goes to the European Parliament and the EU’s member states for approval.
