Ramadan favourite sparks Twitter storm

Saudi commentators expressed outrage online when it emerged that the closing credits of Ramadan soap opera Bab Al-Hara, which is produced and aired by the Middle East Broadcasting Centre (MBC) satellite channel, had thanked the Syrian defence and information ministries for their assistance. The very popular Bab Al-Hara is a Syrian Ramadan series that has captivated Arab viewers since its launch in 2006. Tweeters complained the Saudi-funded channel was aiding the regime of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, which has massacred “hundreds of thousands” of its own people.
