A senior member of Qatar’s influential Al-Attiyah family, Fawaz Ahmed, has filed a claim in a London court against former prime minister and foreign minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani (HBJ), over a dispute which stretches back to the 1990s. Claim documents, which were filed in September at the Queen’s Bench Division, have been seen by GSN. According to Fawaz’s lawyers, Imran Khan and Partners Solicitors, HBJ has contested jurisdiction based partly on his claim to sovereign and diplomatic immunity.
