Qatar suspends liquor licence

Some throats were unseasonally parched in Doha in December following the news that the prestigious Pearl development had lost its liquor licence. The Pearl, owned by the United Development Company (UDC) and listed on the Qatar Exchange, is connected to several local big business families, and foreigners are allowed to own property there.
