Qatar meetings with Japan and Greece

Qatar Armed Forces chief of staff Ghanim Shaheen Al-Ghanim was in Tokyo in late January for a meeting with his counterpart Katsutoshi Kawano at the Japanese Ministry of Defence. Japanese banks reportedly lent the funds that Qatar used as its down payment for the $6bn-7bn order of 24 Dassault Rafale fighter jets made in 2015-16. Meanwhile Greek defence minister Panos Kammenos visited Doha at the end of January. He met prime minister and interior minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani and state minister for defence Hamad Bin Ali Al-Attiyah.
