Qatar boycott stumbles towards its third anniversary amid rumours and denials

Diplomatic efforts to resolve the schism within the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) appear to have stepped up ahead of the Qatar boycott’s third anniversary on 5 June. At the same time, however, a flurry of leaked recordings and unsubstantiated rumours have been circulating online, suggesting some at least are intent on maintaining the standoff.The diplomatic front was marked by a number of meetings in the first half of May, including one between Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani and Kuwaiti foreign affairs minister Sheikh Dr Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah.
