Qatar: North Field project approved after 12-year hiatus

Qatar has lifted the moratorium on new developments on the North Field, the giant natural gas reserve it shares with Iran (which calls its section of the field South Pars). In a surprise announcement made on 3 April, Qatar Petroleum (QP) said it intended to develop a new gas project in the field’s southern sector. It will start work in the next few months.
