Issue 994 - 05 Jun 2015 | 1 minute read

Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad was in the news in Turkey for apparently sending a surprise gift of Arabian horses. On 27 May, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was quoted as saying that Tamim, who was welcomed by a cavalry regiment on his last visit to Turkey, had sent the animals after his return to Qatar. “He sent a message, we were surprised. He sent 53 Arabian horses,” the president said, according to Today’s Zaman. “They are now under quarantine in Eskisehir.” Erdogan’s announcement followed reports in Turkish media that the presidency was looking to buy 50 horses for a farm to be built in the grounds of the presidential palace.
