Qatar: Emir Sheikh Tamim: Mattis

On 22 April, US secretary of defence James Mattis and his delegation (including advisor Sally Donnelly) were in Doha. Mattis met the emir at Al-Bahr Palace along with defence minister Khalid Bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah. Al-Attiyah had previously met Mattis just under a month ago at the Pentagon. A US government statement said Mattis stressed the importance of the US-Qatari strategic partnership and discussed shared security interests, including the battle against Islamic State.
