Qatar: Emir Sheikh Tamim’s National library opening

Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani officially inaugurated the Qatar National Library building on 16 April, at Qatar Foundation (QF)’s Education City campus, placing the library’s one millionth book on the shelf: a copy of the Sahih Al Bukhari collection of the Prophet Mohammed’s hadiths. The library was designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and his Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) company. It is conceived as a single room with all the books visible.
