Qatar’s World Cup bid under scrutiny

Football’s governing body Fifa is planning to investigate the decision to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar, as well as other major decisions it has taken in recent years. Chairman of the Fifa Ethics Committee’s investigatory chamber Michael Garcia – appointed in July – told German TV channel ARD’s Sportschau on 26 August that he also wanted to look at the awarding of World Cups to Russia and Germany.
