Dubai ruler Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum’s uncle, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, has taken a number of senior roles in recent years, placing him at the forefront of Dubai’s post-debt revival. He was born in 1958, the same year that his father, Sheikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Al-Maktoum, died at the age of 80. Sheikh Saeed was ruler of Dubai from 1912 to 1958 with one short hiatus; Sheikh Ahmed’s brother, Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, also ruled the emirate, from 1958 until his death in 1990.
