Power sector infrastructure in the Horn of Africa – revised 2016

Map

This map – originally published within the African Energy Atlas 2016/2017 – provides an overview of electricity sector infrastructure across Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia.

The locations of actual and planned power generation facilities are shown by type – including hydroelectric, thermal, solar PV, wind, waste-to-power and geothermal – alongside existing and future transmission lines ranging from 33kV to 500kV.

Cross-border power interconnectors including the Eastern Electricity Highway Project (EEHP) and links (proposed and actual) to Sudan, South Sudan and Yemen are shown.

The map is a PDF file, made using eps graphics, meaning that there is no loss of resolution as the file is enlarged.
