Omani authorities arrested 49 people on 8 March for staging protests outside the Royal Opera House (ROH) in Muscat. According to Omani press, the protesters, who had also been out the previous evening, were objecting to a performance by US band Jason Moran and the Bandwagon on 28 February, when one of the band members recited verses from the Quran. The ROH said it would be taking legal action over the incident, despite the performers’ assurances they had not intended to offend.
