Heritage and culture minister Haitham Bin Tariq Al-Said travelled to the Uzbek capital Tashkent to attend the opening of the Abu Al-Raihan Al-Biruni Library, one of the most important collections of Central Asian manuscripts and part of the Al-Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies. Construction of the library building was paid for by Oman. Haitham arrived in the city on 14 March and attended a dinner in his honour that evening.
