Oman: Haitham’s special envoy Fatik Bin Fahr

Sayyid Fatik Bin Fahr Al-Said has been appointed a special envoy by Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Al-Said. Fatik has been in government since the 1990s, as secretary-general of the Ministry of Culture and Heritage where he worked closely with Haitham, who was culture minister until his appointment as ruler. The new culture minister, appointed early March under royal decree 9/2020, is Salim Mohammed Al-Mahrouqi (previously the ministry’s undersecretary).Born in 1956, Sayyid Fatik is a son of the late Sultan Qaboos’ uncle Sayyid Fahr Bin Taimur, who was born in 1924 and died from cancer in the mid-1990s.
