Oman: EOR research centre planned

Issue 1023 - 07 Oct 2016 | 1 minute read

Oman is to set up a research and development centre focused on enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques, claiming it is the first of its kind outside the United States. An agreement was due to be signed in Muscat on 4 October by The Research Council (TRC) chairman Sayyid Shihab Bin Tariq Al-Said. The centre is being set up in partnership with the Enhanced Oil Recover Company, chaired by Abdullah Al-Manthri. Oman has been a regional pioneer in the use of EOR methods over recent years, relying on them to maintain its oil output levels. The centre will be set up at the Innovation Park Muscat, a technology zone currently under construction.
