Oman/Iran: Pipeline plans press ahead

Negotiations between Tehran and Muscat over a planned natural gas pipeline between Iran and Oman are expected to be finalised by the end of February, Iranian petroleum minister Bijan Zangeneh said after meeting his Omani counterpart Mohammed Bin Hamad Al-Rumhi in Tehran on 7 February. Deep-water mapping of the pipeline route is due to be completed within the next few months and a tender will then be held to select a developer. Representatives of Total, Royal/Dutch Shell, Korea Gas Corporation (Kogas), Germany’s Uniper and Japan’s Mitsui & Company were in Tehran to present their proposals for delivering the project.
