Project sourcers report that good progress is being made at the Ughelli generation plant, which was privatised in the sale of Power Holding Company of Nigeria assets in 2013. Symbion Power is technical partner to Transcorp Ughelli Power Ltd (TUPL). Symbion chief executive Paul Hinks told African Energy that “as of 3 November, the Ughelli power plant is operating at 483MW. We have increased the available capacity from 160MW on handover date [1 November 2013] to 483MW within 12 months, and are on schedule to achieve the plant’s fully installed capacity of 972MW.”
