Nigeria: ExxonMobil cancels drillship

ExxonMobil has cancelled a contract with Norway’s Seadrill Partners for the West Capella drillship. Seadrill said it had received an early notice of termination for the unit, which was contracted until April 2017 at a dayrate of $627,500. Seadrill will receive a payment of around $125m plus other direct costs incurred as a result of the early termination. The West Capella is being marketed for new work and is expected to be in Tenerife during its idle period, Seadrill said.
