Major-General Sheikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa was appointed to the newly created role of national security advisor in a royal order issued by King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa on 17 October. Nasser, who is also Royal Guard Commander, will report to the Supreme Defence Council in his new position, which gives him oversight of national security policy and strategy, in terms of domestic and international issues.
