Mozambique: MoU signed for 50MWp solar PV plant

The government of the northern province of Niassa has signed a memorandum of understanding with Gigawatt Global and the Anglican Church in Niassa for the construction of a 50MW solar PV power plant in the provincial capital Lichinga. The electricity produced will be supplied to the grid with the aim of improving power supply to the Lago, Mecula, Mecanhelas, Mavago and Mandimba districts. Following the signing, work on an environmental impact assessment was due to get under way in September.
