MoD signs another drone development deal

Issue 1018 - 01 Jul 2016 | 1 minute read

The RSC already operates a fleet of drones to protect the country’s maritime border and its offshore oil and gas resources. Since 2014 it has been seeking to develop its own models. Texas A&M will be assisting with the next stages of that project, which include developing control systems, drone systems and software engineering. The RSC is run by director General Khalid Bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari. It is the latest in a string of drone deals signed by Doha this year. In March, the Qatar Armed Forces (QAF) signed several deals involving drone technology at the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (Dimdex 2016).
