Kuwait: Parliamentary opposition grows
The folly of Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s decision to hold early elections in Kuwait has begun to hit home, with opposition to the government increasing in the National Assembly. The most critical items are two motions to grill prime minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, which will be examined on 10 May. The first motion, filed by MPs Waleed Al-Tabtabai, Marzouq Al-Khalifa and Mohammed Al-Mutair on 12 April, calls on the PM to be questioned about the removal of citizenship from some Kuwaitis, corruption and other issues.
