Kuwait: New chief executive appointed to troubled national carrier

Kuwait Airways has appointed Kamel Al-Awadhi to take over as chief executive from 1 November, in the latest effort to revive the national carrier. Awadhi was promoted from deputy chief executive, taking over from acting chief executive Abdullah Al-Sharhan who had held the post since April. Awadhi and chairman Youssef Al-Jassem were given an audience with Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in late October.Kuwait Airways struggles to compete with the big Gulf carriers on long-haul routes.
