Issue 1035 - 28 Apr 2017 | 1 minute read

Kuwait is to introduce national service within weeks, following talks at the Military Defence Council, headed by defence minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, on 20 April. The military service law was approved by the cabinet in May 2015 and is due to come into effect on 10 May. National Service Authority commander Major General Ibrahim Salem Al-Omairi has been tasked with informing the public about what is expected from them. The UAE and Qatar both introduced national service in 2014.
