Kuwait: Nasser Mohammed versus Ahmed Fahd

According to a wide variety of sources in the political and business community across Kuwait, both former prime minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah and former deputy PM Sheikh Ahmed Fahd Ahmed Al-Sabah are ‘finished’ in terms of their potential to succeed Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The rivalry between the two men has been a notable feature of Kuwaiti politics since 2011, but GSN sources say the debate about succession has moved decisively past them both, even though Nasser Mohammed retains some political influence.
