Issue 1056 - 22 Mar 2018 | 1 minute read

The Court of Cassation is to issue a final ruling on 6 May in the case of the opposition activists accused of storming the National Assembly (parliament). The protestors – including a number of current and former MPs – entered the building at the height of a wave of anti-corruption demonstrations in November 2011.They were acquitted by the Criminal Court in December 2013 but that decision was overturned by the Court of Appeal last November , resulting in prison sentences of one to nine years.
