Kibo Mining looks to coal to power Tanzanian development

Kibo Mining says it is close to concluding a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) as a precursor to a full power purchase agreement (PPA) for its Mbeya coal-to-power project, an integrated coal-fired mine mouth power station to supply the grid. Feasibility studies for the mine and power plant, formerly known as the Rukwa coal-to-power project, are complete and, in December, Kibo announced an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Sepco III and an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with GE.
