Kenya’s nuclear ambitions received a fresh boost this spring with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) in March. The agreement followed a previous MoU with CGN in 2016, as well as MoUs signed with Russia’s Rosatom and South Korea’s Korea Electric Power Corporation (Kepco). Slovakia was the first country to sign an MoU on education and research and development for nuclear energy in 2014, while in February 2017, France said it was prepared to support Kenya’s nuclear ambitions.
