Kenya: Turnkey contract awarded for Olkaria V

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS), Mitsubishi Corporation, and Kenya-based H Young & Company (East Africa) Ltd have agreed a turnkey contract with Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) to build the 140MW Olkaria V geothermal plant in Nakuru County. MHPS and Mitsubishi will design the geothermal facilities and supply equipment, and H Young will be responsible for civil engineering and commissioning. The Japan International Cooperation Agency signed a Y45.7bn ($408m) loan agreement for the project in 2016.
