Issue 314 - 17 Dec 2015 | 1 minute read

Former assistant energy minister Charles Keter has been nominated as energy minister by President Uhuru Kenyatta, replacing Davis Chirchir, who stepped down in March pending an investigation by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission. Keter, a close ally of deputy president William Ruto, joined parliament following the 2002 election. He was named assistant minister in the grand coalition government that followed the 2007 election but was relieved of his ministerial duties alongside Ruto after publicly disagreeing with party leader Raila Odinga.
