Jordan: Football spat over Saddam chants

Foreign minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah phoned his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Al-Safadi on 10 October to complain about Jordanian football fans chanting the name of former Iraqi dictator (and invader of Kuwait) Saddam Hussein in Amman earlier that day. Jordan’s House of Representatives and Senate, as well as the Jordan Football Association, all issued statements condemning the behaviour of local fans during the 2022 World Cup qualifying match.
