How could Donald Trump’s ex-campaign manager Paul Manafort earn an honest buck as his legal bills mount up from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigations? By working for the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), of course. Manafort was retained to lobby ahead of Massoud Barzani’s independence referendum by the KRG president’s security chief son Masrour. This did not end well as Baghdad’s troops punctured the Peshmerga’s reputation as Iraq’s most effective force, as the KRG’s US alliance seemed to evaporate.
