Iraq: Complaints about rainbow flags in Baghdad

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) denounced the raising of the rainbow flag by the EU Advisory Mission and the UK and Canadian embassies in Baghdad on 17 May, to mark International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. An MFA statement said it was a “violation of the high moral principles and values respected by all divine religions” and was in “contradiction with the values, morals and social norms of our country.”
