Iraq’s new President Saleh reaches out to GCC neighbours

Newly appointed President Barham Saleh has been on a brief tour of Gulf capitals in a bid to shore up regional support for an administration built on shaky foundations. His first stop was Kuwait City where Saleh held talks with Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and prime minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on 11 November and handed over some Kuwaiti property Iraq had taken during the 1990 invasion.
