Iranian FM stirs the pot on his travels

Iran’s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has been racking up the airmiles in August and September, with visits to a number of other Gulf states and a string of countries across Europe and Asia. He stirred up some controversy as he went.Zarif was in Doha on 11 August in his second visit to Qatar this year (following a trip in April). He met his counterpart Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani; the two countries had signed a maritime border agreement earlier in the month. A week later he was in Kuwait City, where he provoked widespread speculation about Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s health.
