At least eight foreign heads of state are expected to be among the international guests at Hassan Rouhani’s inauguration for his second term as president on 5 August, two days after being officially authorised as head of government by Rahbar (Supreme Leader) Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei. At least 92 foreign delegations are set to attend. Those from the region were reported to include Qatar, Oman and Iraq, potentially adding to splits in the Sunni camp.
