Iran: Nedaja sinks its own vessel

Issue 1103 - 22 May 2020 | 2 minute read

Iranian naval authorities have admitted that a missile fired from one of its own Islamic Republic of Iran Navy (Nedaja) vessels sank a support vessel in an accident off Bandar-e Jask port in the Gulf of Oman on 10 May. The Iranian frigate Jamaran, which fired the missile at the support vessel Konarak, is the first of the domestically-produced Moudge class, based on the Vosper Thorneycroft Mk5 frigates supplied to pre-revolutionary Iran.
