Tehran has held discussions on buying new fighter jets for the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF), Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan was quoted as saying on 23 November by local news site Iran Daily. The details of what aircraft it might buy and from which country remain unclear, but Iran has previously been linked with the J-10B fighter made by China’s Chengdu Aircraft Corporation and the Mirage 2000 made by France’s Dasault. Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan was recently appointed to the post of Deputy General Commander of the Islamic Republic’s Army by Rahbar (Supreme Leader)
