Iran: German hub to promote EU relations

Closer ties with Germany should make an essential contribution to improving relations between Iran and the wider European Union (EU), President Hassan Rouhani said, as German economy minister Sigmar Gabriel became the first senior western official to visit following the mid-July nuclear agreement. Iran and Germany plan to hold their first joint economic conference since 2002, the official Irna reported on 20 July. Rouhani hoped Germany would play a “positive role” in improving relations with the EU, “as it played a positive role in nuclear talks”.
