Iran: Claims over payment to London refuted

Majlis-e Shura-ye Eslami (parliament) member Ahmad Mazani has claimed Iran paid IR270m ($1.6m) in compensation to the UK for damages caused during the 29 November 2011 attack on the British embassy in Tehran. However, foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif denied there was even any talks over compensation payments. One London source told GSN that Mazani’s claims were “inaccurate”.
