Hamad Bin Abdullah: Venetian jewellery heist

There were headlines world-wide when thieves stole several items from the collection of Indian jewellery and gems assembled by Sheikh Hamad Bin Abdullah Al-Thani, a cousin of Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad, during the final day of an exhibition at the Doge’s Palace in Venice. The stolen brooch and earrings formed part of the Treasures of the Mughals and the Maharajahs exhibition, which ran from 9 September to 3 January, featuring 270 items.
