Gulf royals divide over Istanbul summit

Several senior Gulf royals convened in Istanbul for an extraordinary summit of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) on 13 December to discuss the US recognition of Jerusalem as the Israeli capital. Kuwait, Oman and Qatar all sent high-ranking delegations, but others opted for more lowly officials, in another clear split in Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) ranks – and a possible reflection of the close relations Abu Dhabi and Riyadh share with President Donald Trump.
