Gulf leaders’ ‘go it alone’ approach’ spells trouble for the region

The political situation around the Middle East may be as bad as any time in recent memory, but there is the potential for it to get worse still. According to analysis by the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), the Gulf region is facing an extended period of heightened risk from political and military developments, which will be dominated by individual country’s priorities rather than strategic co-operation across borders.
