Gulf funding of Dutch mosques revealed

Dutch daily NRC Handelsblad and TV programme Nieuwsuur have unearthed documents revealing Islamic organisations in the Netherlands that have applied for or received funding from Kuwaiti and Saudi sources. The confidential documents were provided by the Gulf states’ governments under a 2010 deal with the Hague to provide more detail about funding flows. Until now they had remained secret.The information is highly sensitive given public concern in Europe that funds from conservative Gulf countries are fostering extremism.
