Gulf States News Issue 1,000
Gulf States News (GSN) has had four owners and various incarnations since it was first published in 1974. It appeared first in Beirut, during a period when oil prices quadrupled in the wake of the October 1973 crisis, as Saudi Arabia and its neighbours began to flex their political, as well as economic, muscle. The publication has lived through turbulent times in which the lives of the region’s ever-rising population have been transformed by economic, social and technological change. One constant has been GSN’s determination to provide accurate, analytical coverage of a region consisting of the six Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) monarchies, Iran, Iraq and Yemen.
