Ghana: T2 begins commercial operations

Issue 311 - 05 Nov 2015 | 1 minute read

The Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (Taqa) and Volta River Authority (VRA) have begun commercial operations at the expanded 330MW T2 gas power plant in Takoradi. The plant has been converted from a simple-cycle plant to a combined-cycle gas turbine, increasing output by 110MW. T2 is the country’s first independent power producer and is 90% owned by Taqa and 10% by the VRA. A financing package worth $117.5m was provided by the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation alongside the Opec Fund for International Development and the Canada Climate Change Program.
